The choir dress of the Bishop, whether in or outside his diocese, consists of: the purple cassock; purple silk sash with silk fringes at the two ends (but not with tassels); rochet of linen or similar material; purple mozzetta (without hood); pectoral cross suspended over the mozzetta by a cord of green interwoven with gold; purple skullcap; biretta of the same color with tuft. Purple stockings are also used.

1200. The purple cappa magna, without ermine, can be used only in the diocese and on the most solemn feasts.
-
1201. Calcei sint usuales, nigri coloris, sine fibulis.
-
1201. The shoes are ordinary black ones, without buckles.
-
-
1202. The dress described above is used by the Bishop whenever he goes publicly to a church or leaves from it, when he is present for a liturgical or sacred action but does not preside, and in other cases foreseen in this Ceremonial.
-
De vestibus in sollemnibus adiunctis extra celebrationes liturgicas

1203. Vestis Episcopi in sollemnibus adiunctis extra celebrationes liturgicas constat: talari veste nigri coloris torulo exornata, una cum limbis, suturis, ocellis et globulis e serico rubino, sine reflexu in manicis; super hanc vestem palliolum, torulo item exornatum, deferre licet; zona serica violacei coloris cum laciniis item sericis duas extremas partes exornantibus; cruce pectorali catella sustentata; pileolo et collari violacei coloris.

On the dress on solemn occasions outside liturgical celebrations

1203. The use of purple stockings is wholly optional.

The black plush hat, when warranted, can be adorned with green cords and tassels.

Una cum hac talari veste, tibialia nigra adhibentur; collare et pileolum necnon zona violacei coloris deferri possunt. Crux pectoralis catella sustentatur. Anulus semper deferatur.
-

On the dress of daily use

1204. The common dress, or that of daily use, can be the black cassock, not trimmed in purple. Bishops from religious orders can use their religious habit. With the black cassock, black stockings are used; the purple rabat and skullcap and also the sash can be worn. The pectoral cross is suspended from the chain. The ring is always worn.
